Baritone Mark Davies is a highly-regarded pianist, vocal coach and solo performer throughout the Puget Sound region. Previous roles with PNO include Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Dr. Malatesta (Don Pasquale), as well as serving as the chorus master since 2018. With the Tacoma Opera, he was seen as Schaunard in La Bohème, and as Stanley Kowlaski in Andre Previn’s adaptation of a Streetcar Named Desire. Davies has also worked with Vashon Opera and Puget Sound Concert Opera in the roles of Dancaïro (Carmen), Ping (Turandot), Albert (Werther), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) and Papageno (The Magic Flute). He is also a member of the Seattle Opera Chorus where he has recently appeared in their productions of Die Zauberflöte and Berlioz’s Les Troyens. As a concert artist, Davies has performed solo works with orchestra including Mahler’s “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” and “Kindertotenlieder”, and most recently as the bass soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Everett Philharmonic Orchestra. As a prominent pianist and vocal coach, Davies has worked with and accompanied artists who appear at opera houses across the country and internationally.
