Mezzo-soprano Dawn Padula is delighted to be making her Pacific Northwest Opera debut. A frequent principal artist with recent engagements of Carmen (Bellevue Opera), Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance (Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society), Dame Quickly in Falstaff, Armelinde in Cendrillon, and Fidalma in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto (Puget Sound Concert Opera), and Dryade in Ariadne auf and Maddalena in Rigoletto (Vashon Opera). Other notable roles include Azucena in Il Trovatore, Lady Jane in Patience, Lady Blanche in Princess Ida, The Third Lady in The Magic Flute, the Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, and the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas. Notable recent concert work includes Smyth’s Mass in D (Seattle Pro Musica), and De Falla’s El Amor Brujo (Symphony Tacoma and Olympia Symphony Orchestra). She is also Director of Vocal Studies at the University of Puget Sound School of Music where she chairs the Vocal Studies Area and co-directs the Songwriting major.
