Seattle native tenor Ryan Lustgarten currently based in Brooklyn, NY is a graduate of Boston University Opera Institute, and was a Virginia Opera Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist for their 2022-2023 season.

Ryan’s 2021-2022 season included seven new roles with four different companies. With the Boston University Opera Institute, he portrayed Miles in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Fabian in Jake Heggie’s If I Were You, and Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. With Shreveport Opera, he performed the role of Borsa in Rigoletto. With City Lyric Opera in New York, he performed the Jack of Hearts in a site-specific revival of Elizabeth Raum’s The Garden of Alice. Ryan spent his summer with Des Moines Metro Opera covering the roles of Francis Flute in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and John Singer Sargent in a workshop of Damien Geter’s American Apollo.
