Merideth Marano of Asheville, North Carolina is thrilled to be making her debut with Pacific Northwest Opera in this special Ring Cycle production. Merideth was a young artist with Maryland Lyric Opera, and made her professional debut to great acclaim with that company as Nedda, in I Pagliacci. Her voice was described in the DC Metro Arts publication as, “a constant thrill throughout the evening, sparkling in her high notes and bringing a special poignancy and soulfulness to her low notes” and in the Washington Post as “certainly the standout”. Other notable roles include Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Sylva (Die Czardasfürsten), Roselinde (Die Fledermaus), Echo (Ariadne auf Naxos), Laetitia (The Old Maid and the Thief), Juliette (Roméo et Juliet), and Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica). Merideth has successfully competed both Nationally and Internationally and most recently took second place in the Seattle Opera Guild Scholarship Competition. She is excited to put down roots in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and is already enjoying the warm welcome of local opera lovers as well as the many talented performers.
