Boyd Schlaefer, bass-baritone, has sung several roles for Pacific Northwest Opera: Dr. Peter Salem from The Abduction from the Seraglio, Baron Duphol in La Traviata, Don Basilio in the Barber of Seville, Lodovico in Otello and the Notary in both Der Rosenkavalier and in Don Pasquale on Zoom. He is a former winner of the Seattle Opera Cecilia Schultz award for young artists, was a member of New York City Opera for twenty-two years both in the chorus and as a soloist, and performed in many productions for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Lake George Opera Festival, American Music Theater of Philadelphia and the Little Orchestra Society of New York at Avery Fisher Hall. Mr. Schlaefer also is the Executive/Artistic Director and co-founder of Northwest Opera In Schools Etc. (NOISE), a Seattle based company, which has been presenting educational opera programs in the Northwest for the last thirty-seven years.
